SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM POLICY It is the company's policy to ensure safety at sea, prevention of human injury or loss of life, and avoidance of damage to the environment, in particular, to the marine environment and property. Objectives The company's objectives regarding Safety Management are:
- to provide for safe practices in ship operation and a safe working environment;
- to establish safeguards against all identified risks;
- to prevent loss of human life and personal injury;
- to continuously improve safety management skills of personnel ashore and aboard ships, including preparing for emergencies related both to safety and environmental protection.
In order to implement its Safety and Environmental Protection Policy the company:
- has developed and implements procedures and instructions to ensure safe operation of ships and protection of environment;
- consistently follows all national and international rules and regulations governing the marine industry;
- takes into account applicable guidelines, standards, codes and publications which are issued by maritime organizations and are directed towards creating a safe and pollution free environment;
- continuously monitors all safety aspects of the managed fleet;
- frequently inspects the managed fleet and carries out necessary maintenance and repairs;
- continuously improves its management system by taking preventive and corrective action when required;
- provides adequate resources to effectively implement the Safety Management System.
All company's employees, shore based and sea going, are responsible for implementation of the company's Safety and Environmental Protection Policy.
Stamco Ship Management Co Ltd., has been established in Piraeus since 1993 and in December 1996 moved to their own premises situated in the center of the city of Piraeus. A new corporate style of ship management has been adopted in Piraeus where the technical and marine operations are located while Varna office handles crew recruitment. A committee formed by the heads of the three major departments meet daily to discuss ways of improving the quality of our fleet in an endeavor to enhance and upgrade our services to Charterers. The company being conscious of the contemporary requirements for the pollution prevention and marine safety and willing to keep also the high operational and quality standards of its fleet has set up an integrated crew training scheme ashore with manning offices before employment and on board training under the continuous supervision and attendance of the company's marine superintendents. Company's fleet consists
of PCC and PCTC vessels trading worldwide between Europe/Africa-Korea/Japan/East-West Coast USA/Australia/Central-South America are engaged in long term Time Charters under first Class valued Charterers. Since the beginning of the new century a new era for the company has been initiated by building of numerous modern PCTC's followed an extensive program of gradual replacement of our fleet by the new tonnage. At present 95% of our fleet consists of vessels built after year 2000 and even more new vessels are expected in the years to come, bringing our company in one of the top positions globally.
